How many different types
of membership CAPA-MC has?
Four.
- Permanent Voting Parent
Membership – $100 Membership Fee. Voting members can participate in voting
CAPA-MC’s board members bi-annually. Permanent members pay membership once
and it stays valid as long as the member continues to be a resident in the
MCPS.
- Two-Year Voting Parent Membership
– $30 Membership Fee. Voting members can participate in voting CAPA-MC’s
board members bi-annually.
- General Parent Membership – Free
Membership. Parents with this membership have not voting right in CAPA-MC.
- Student Membership – Free
Membership. Most of CAPA-MC’s events are open to students whose parents
are either voting or non-voting members of CAPA-MC. CAPA-MC funded scholarship
and internship opportunities require at least one of the students’ parents
to be a voting member of CAPA-MC.
· Is CAPA-MC an independent organization? Yes, CAPA-MC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
registered in Maryland. We are not a subsidiary of another non-profit
organization.
· Does CAPA-MC connect with other CAPA Organizations in
United States? Yes, we connect
with CAPA Howard County Maryland (CAPA-HC), CAPA Baltimore Community Maryland
(CAPA-BC), CAPA Northern Virginia (CAPA-NoVA), CAPA Rose Tree Media School
District Pennsylvania (CAPA-RTMSD) regularly, share experiences, support each other,
and co-run events.
· Does CAPA-MC events and activities accept Chinese American
students only? No, we welcome
all Asian American students to join our events and welcome non-Asian American
students to participate too. For certain activities supported by grant
funding, we will follow grant guidelines to determine eligibilities.
· How many student clubs do CAPA-MC sponsor? Ten. Please refer to the Student
Clubs Overview page for more details.
· How to I join CAPA-MC as a parent? Please complete the CAPA-MC Member Registration Form.
· How do I join CAPA-MC clubs as a student? Please visit the Student
Clubs Overview section of this website and go to each student
club’s website/webpage. Each student club recruits and registers student
members independently.
